Collin didn't like it either. First off, the biscuits had no flavor.
And they came with a huge branch of rosemary in them. WEIRD.
What would you think hash is? We thought it was hash browns.
NOPE. More like roasted, unseasoned potatoes. I got the veggie hash.
No flavor, no seasoning. Except for the dumb rosemary they didn't cook with.
I really hated it and was so mad. FAIL.

We drove out to Cabrillo National Monument after that to check out the tide pools. Except someone got the times wrong for high tide and low tide, and we were there at the wrong time. It was still a beautiful place to see though.
I thought there was supposed to be a lighthouse. Did we see it?? I honestly can't remember ...
Anyway, after that we gave in to Lauren's pleading and went to paint pottery. It has become a vacation tradition. Many did not want to go, but I think we all ended up enjoying it. And Mike brought out an artistic side we have never seen before!
I was excited for Mike's skull. And Collin chose to do a Tim Burton-esque mug.
WOWZA! So dang cool.
Oh my gosh, Michael is the slowest pottery painter EVER.
He just did one solid color, and it took him forever to do it!
Matthew worked very hard on his and kept it simple. Smart guy!
Lauren is always super amazing and gets compliments from everyone in the shop.
The cool part is that we got to pick up our pieces the next day! We usually have to wait until they are shipped to us to see the finished product. Mike's skull is awesome. And Matthew's tile looks good!
I was SO disappointed with my plate. Ugh. The lady said to do three coats of paint. Other people in my family did more coats just in case and got beautiful results. I didn't think of that on my own, and no one shared, so I followed the rules and ended up with this. You can see the strokes! I thought it was going to have bold, solid colors. Whatever. The bold parts are from the writer. Hmph.
Lauren's mug is beautiful. She is going to use it as a vase in her apartment at school.
I want it.
Michael's cup is cool! It says, "It's Not Just a Cup. It's a Lifestyle."
Collin's mug is cool too! I'm so jealous. Why didn't I do that many coats of paint??
That night we made a stupid decision on dinner that I don't even want to talk about. We were supposed to go to El Torito, one of our all time favorite Mexican restaurants, but instead went to a tourist trap in Old Town. I still don't understand why we did that. And I am still upset about it! After we got home we made Mexican food ourselves to make up for it. Ha! We seriously failed in the Mexican food department on t his trip, and I will never forget it!
On our very last day (how could it be our last day? we definitely did not have enough time in san diego!), we split up in the morning. Lauren and I went to the Contemporary Art Museum downtown while the boys went to the USS Midway Museum. The art museum had James Drake's exhibit called "Anatomy of Drawing and Space (Brain Trash)." This guy drew something every day. The resulting 1,242 drawings were shown here in ten "chapters."
This is just some of it. That's actually an image of his brain. Huh!
We still had some time to kill, so we went over to Seaport Village and walked around the shops. Lauren found a few cute things there, including these boots. She got the ones she is trying on here. She'll be sporting those on the streets of Boston soon!In the meantime, the boys were enjoying the USS Midway. After seeing the pictures, I was a little sad I didn't go. I would have liked it! But Lauren and I had fun doing our own thing.
I don't have much to see about these pictures since I wasn't there ...
This had to be the captain's quarters, right? Looks nice!
Don't do it, Matthew!!!
Hashbrowns!
Nice bathroom?

How can anyone sleep like that? Tight quarters!
We finally met up just in time for lunch. I had to take the fam to Hodad's
after going there on girls weekend. Great place right in Ocean Beach.
I think they liked it! Oh, their fries are so good!
Here is an interesting picture. My first try at a panoramic shot. Hahaha
We went to the beach one last time ... So sad! Not enough beach time. And barely any pool time!
That evening we drove out to Mike's cousin's house in Poway. We hadn't seen Larry since he married Yerika 10 years ago! We had never met their kids!!! Soon after arriving, Larry told us that he realized that his kids and our kids are the only cousins with the last name Tovey. Holy cow, he's right! We had to line them all up for a picture. With the ages, they could all actually be mine!
Larry and Yerika's kids are so cute! And funny! This is preparing for the shot ...
Collin, Lauren, Matthew, Michael, Sunshine, Larry, Dinah, Asher and Danika
We had a really nice time visiting in their backyard while the kids played.
Michael pushed Asher around and around and around!!!
Reunited at last - Little Larry and Mikie. :)
Yerika made us the yummiest dinner. We loved it!
Sigh ... That is the end of our summer vacation. It was sad that it ended,
but we were all ready to go home. There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed!
It was a fantastic trip though. We have to go back to San Diego!
